Manu Samoa are the warriors of the Pacific — a team that's carried the hopes of the islands since 1924, representing the families of Apia, the communities of the outer islands, and the Samoan diaspora from Auckland to Sydney, all united in the blue jersey that's become a symbol of Pacific strength and pride. Known as "Manu Samoa" to the faithful — in honour of a famous Samoan warrior — we perform the siva tau before every match, a traditional challenge that sends shivers down spines and announces that the warriors have arrived, with a legacy of legends like Brian Lima and a World Cup quarter-final appearance in 1991 and 1995 that proved we belong on the biggest stage, even if we've copped a bit of "physical" banter from the northern hemisphere teams.
